Valverde: Barcelona’s result against Leganes was ‘misleading and excessive’

The coach was not completely happy despite the win

Ernesto Valverde felt the scoreline flattered Barcelon after watching his side beat Leganes 3-0 on Saturday.

Luis Suarez scored twice and Paulinho added a third late on as Barcelona maintained their unbeaten start.

However, the Blaugrana also had Marc-Andre ter Stegen to thank after another strong performance from the goalkeeper.

After the game, Valverde said the result was harsh on Leganes who have a very strong defence.

"The result was misleading and excessive because Leganes made it difficult for us and had a great game, while there were times when we weren't brilliant,” he said.

"They're very secure at the back, as shown by the fact that they've only conceded two goals in five games."

It was another tough game for Barcelona and not nearly as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

The team’s performance is also unlikely to have thrilled many fans but the club remain top and as it stands are La Liga’s top goalscorers while also possessing the best defence.
