The curse of the ghost goal has struck Barcelona yet again with Ernesto Valverde’s side denied a clear goal in the first half at Mestalla.
Lionel Messi struck a shot which goalkeeper Neto made an absolute mess of, fumbling the ball which rolled backwards over the line before he scooped it out.
Check it out for yourselves:
Barcelona are furious

They should have been given a clear goal with the ball well over the line!

Rather worryingly, Barca then completely lost their heads as they protested to the officials while Valencia played on and carved out a chance of their own.
Of course there’s no goal-line technology or VAR in La Liga this season, you can be sure the calls for it to be introduced will be ramped up after this game.
