Will he be fit in time for El Clasico?

Barcelona have suffered a big blow during Saturday’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo at Camp Nou as Samuel Umtiti was forced off with an injury.

The defender pulled up abruptly with what looked like a hamstring problem after 72 minutes, shortly behind Celta levelled the match at 2-2.

Thomas Vermaelen came on to replace Umtiti but his injury will be a huge concern to Ernesto Valverde.

Umtiti has been one of Barcelona’s best players this season and is a major reason for their superb defensive record so far in this campaign.

Barcelona have four games left before the winter break and Umtiti will surely now be a doubt for most of them.

Sporting are up next in the Champions League on Tuesday, although with top spot already confirmed, Valverde can afford to make changes.

After that Barca head to Villarreal before a home game against Deportivo La Coruna and then the Clasico against Real Madrid on 23rd December.

Get well soon Umtiti!
