1. Messi v Getafe – April 2007
It’s hard to believe Messi scored this goal over 10 years ago but it still continues to amaze a decade later. In the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, aged just 19, he picked up the ball in his own half, ran past what seemed like the entire Getafe team before slotting home. It doesn’t really get much better than that.

2. Messi v Real Madrid – April 2011
Of all Messi’s goals against Real Madrid, and he has 16 now after two more on Sunday night, this one in the Champions League semi-final second leg takes some beating. The Argentine coasted past four players before a clinical finish past Iker Casillas on his so-called weaker right foot. If you don’t believe me, ask Xavi who calls it "practically the greatest goal of all-time".

3. Messi v Athletic Bilbao – May 2015
Yet another incredible solo goal which lit up the Copa del Rey final. Messi picks up possession wide right of the half-way line, races past four defenders before beating the goalkeeper at his near post. Barca go on to lift the trophy with a 3-1 win.

4. Messi v Real Zaragoza – March 2010
Messi had already opened the scoring when he set the game alight with a stunning second. After winning the ball near the centre circle with some dogged tackling he rides a challenge, before turning the defence inside out and sliding home. He grabbed a third shortly afterwards but it’s his second goal that took all the plaudits.

5. Messi v. Bayern Munich - May 2015
Barcelona cruised past Bayern 3-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg with Messi scoring twice on his 100th European appearance. Barca had to wait until late on to score, Messi firing home the first from the edge of the box before adding a glorious second. Three minutes later, he picked up the ball just outside the box, left Jerome Boateng on his backside before dinking it Manuel Neuer.
