The two sides met three months ago in the Copa del Rey Final in Madrid, with the Catalan giants getting a 3-1 victory and winning their third consecutive Spanish Cup. Barça will be hoping to repeat the result on the road and go into the first international break of the season with two straight league wins.
Alavés had a solid league campaign and a great Cup run last season, but lost three key starters and their talented manager Mauricio Pellegrino, so it’s possible to expect Alavés battling relegation all season. They were a strong home team last season, though, and this should be a difficult game for Barça.
The Blaugrana had a good week with a very good win against Betis and the signing of Borussia Dortmund young superstar Ousmane Dembélé on Friday. The Frenchman won’t make his debut against Alavés, but his arrival gives Barça a lot of optimism for the months ahead.
Can Barça get a second straight win before the international break against a tough team? You really should watch this game and find out.
