How should Barcelona line up against Getafe?

The games are coming thick and fast - time to rotate?

Barcelona head to Getafe on Saturday hoping to maintain their 100% start to the Liga season and fresh from beating Juventus in the Champions League.

The Blaugrana were superb at the Camp Nou in midweek, but will play on Saturday and then again on Tuesday with Eibar the visitors to Camp Nou next week.

With that in mind, coach Ernesto Valverde may well rotate his squad a little, so let’s have a look at his options.

Defence

Marc-André ter Stegen will start in goal but in front of him there could be some changes.

Aleix Vidal could come in at right-back for Nelson Semedo, but that may prove unpopular given how well the new signing has started the season.

However, we could well see a change at centre-back with Javier Mascherano a strong option with Gerard Pique possibly given a rest, and Jordi Alba featuring at left-back.

Midfield

Andres Iniesta rolled back the years on Tuesday night, but also featured last weekend, and it seems likely the 33-year-old will be given a breather on Saturday.

Ivan Rakitic has started the season well but Valverde has so many midfield options to choose from, it’s possible he could also make way after a hectic week.

Sergi Roberto could also come into the starting XI after missing out recently while Paulinho is also pushing for a start.

If Rakitic is given the afternoon off, we could see a midfield three of Sergio Busquets, Roberto and Paulinho.

Attack

Luis Suarez is really struggling at the moment and looked exhausted by the end of the Juve match and it might perhaps be the right moment to leave him out.

Paco Alcacer is the obvious choice to replace him and he has returned to training after missing the Juve clash due to illness, although it’s not clear if he is match fit.

If the two strikers both miss out Valverde could opt to use Lionel Messi as a false nine with Ousmane Dembele and Gerard Deulofeu as the wingers.

Possible line-up: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Mascherano, Umtiti, Alba; Paulinho, Busquets, Roberto; Dembele, Messi, Deulofeu.
