And no, it’s not Lionel Messi

Ernesto Valverde was understandably quick to praise his team after Barcelona beat Girona 3-0 on Saturday to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The visitors were not at their best but still had far too much for their opponents with two own goals and a Luis Suarez strike doing the damage.

Speaking after the match, Valverde was asked about his team and explained what it was that he was enjoying so much at the moment.

"The spirit in this team is excellent," he said.

"We are trying to be together in both attack and defence.

"What I most like about this team is that they are programmed to work hard."

Valverde also spoke highly of Andres Iniesta who started once again, despite suggestions he could be rested ahead of Barca’s Champions League clash with Sporting.

"Iniesta is good and it is to his merit how the rest of the squad relates to him," Valverde stated.

"We are all very happy he is playing well. With the guarantees he gives our team, he could play for many more years.”

Barca now head to Portugal for their clash with Sporting in midweek before welcoming Las Palmas to Camp Nou on Sunday ahead of the international break.
