Barcelona starlet Riqui Puig says he would welcome a chance in the first team but is happy to remain patient and wait for an opportunity.

The 19-year-old has been a regular at first-team training sessions this season and says being out there with Ernesto Valverde’s team will make him a better player.

“I’m very happy. García Pimienta is giving me a lot of prominence and I can not complain about anything,” he said.

“I think that training every day with the best in the world makes me a better player and a better person.

“I would not say I’m waiting for my moment. I have to work every day to continue improving and if the opportunity comes it will be very welcome.

“You do not get on the first team overnight. Playing there costs a lot. I must have patience and keep making progress. This way my options will arrive.”

The teenager is one of Barcelona’s hottest prospects, and he’ll be hoping he does get a chance to make an impression this season.
