Barcelona return to La Liga action on Saturday, as league leaders Sevilla arrive at the Camp Nou in what promises to be an exciting match-up.
The hosts have injury problems ahead of the game, so with that in mind let’s have a look at how they might line up.
Defence
Barcelona are definitely without injured duo Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen, while Sergi Roberto looks doubtful, as he only returned to training in the last few days.
In which case the defence virtually picks itself. Nelson Semedo should continue at right-back, Clement Lenglet and Gerard Pique will feature in central defence with Jordi Alba on the left.
Midfield
Ernesto Valverde has plenty of decisions to make in midfield after preferring Arthur in recent games. The Brazilian has been in Saudi Arabia over the international break with Tite’s side and only returned to Barcelona training on Thursday.
With that in mind it’s possible Valverde could look to switch things up. Barcelona play Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday which might also affect team selection.
However, after a four-match winless run in La Liga the focus should very much be on Saturday’s game. Ivan Rakitic and Segio Busquets look certain starters, but it will be interesting to see who else gets the nod on Saturday.
Attack
The big question up front is whether Luis Suarez is fit. The striker admitted he was going to have treatment on his knee over the international break but has been training this week.
It seems likely Suarez will start in attack with Lionel Messi who should be fresh after once again sitting out the international break.
Ousmane Dembele is another player who will be eyeing a start after being forced onto the bench in recent weeks. He started France’s 2-2 draw with Iceland over the break but was only a late sub against Germany.
Possible starting XI: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Coutinho; Messi, Suarez, Dembele.
