Barcelona’s hat-trick hero Luis Suarez says the club showed exactly what they are capable of with their 5-1 demolition of Real Madrid on Sunday.
Ernesto Valverde’s roared back to the top of the table in some style with an emphatic win over Los Blancos.
Suarez will take most of the headlines after taking home the match ball, but he says the whole team deserve credit for their display.
“[Messi] is the best in the world, always a plus. But what we’ve done is shown the level of football this team is capable of. We’re behind the manager and we love the club,” he said
”They came out obviously wanting to turn the game around. They made it 2-1, they had a couple of chances.
”We thought, in general, the team played very well and were able to respond. Madrid were leaving a lot of spaces and we knew we could take advantage of that.
”Every player and every team can suffer a poor game and a poor performance.
”You just have to keep trying and pulling together as a team. These are situations you can understand. They can happen to everyone.”

It’s been an incredible week for Barcelona. Sevilla were beaten 4-2 on Sunday, Inter Milan despatched 2-0 on Wednesday and now Real Madrid thrashed - and all (well, apart from 26 minutes against Sevilla) without Lionel Messi.
