Ernesto Valverde has been talking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Mestalla to take on Valencia in La Liga.

The Barcelona boss kept his cards close to his chest with regards team selection, although he did say he expected Luis Suarez to play despite fears over a knee injury.

He also talked about reports of Arturo Vidal being angry after the Spurs game, Arthur and Ousmane Dembele.

Here are the best bits..

Valverde on Arturo Vidal

We’re a team. He hasn’t told me anything. I don’t know if he’s angry about the game or about a domestic accident.

Valverde on Luis Suarez

He’s training with us today, he didn’t yesterday because it was part of his recovery. We’re counting on him, he’s part of our plans.

The idea is that he plays on Sunday. I don’t know what happens with the national team, but he is someone we need to look after, of course.

Valverde on Arthur and Messi

The rhythm is different in the Champions League and against Tottenham [Messi] was more frenetic, but I see that he has the mentality for everything and he is showing it.

With Arthur, he has different characteristics, very specific ones. He gives us possession and control.

We’ll see what happens with him, but I won’t give anything away about my XI for this weekend’s game.

Valverde on Ousmane Dembele

It is not easy to start regularly for Barça, but he is starting a lot of games.

We have always recognised the incredible talent he has on the ball and that, well, as for his concept of football as a team game he’s in a process..

He’s young. When you play in team of this level, there are lots of things to learn. Not just young people, either, but veterans as well.

Valverde on Valencia

It’s always difficult to play at Mestalla. They’re tough games because they’re charged with emotion. On top of that, they are in a complicated situation since they have yet to win at their own stadium.”

Tomorrow we have a match similar to a Champions League fixture because of the quality of our opponent. Valencia vs Barça is one of the biggest games in La Liga.
