If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that every time one of these posts come along I tell you that “this is a must-watch game, and you just can’t miss it”. And I mean it: every Barça game is must-watch because Lionel Messi is playing, so regardless of the quality of opposition there’s a pretty good reason to see Barcelona in action every week.
But there are a few games that are more than must-watch or can’t miss. They’re giant in importance and they could decide the entire season. This Sunday’s encounter between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou is one of those few games. This one could, and most likely will, decide the champion of La Liga for the 2017-18 season.
Think about it: Barça are five points ahead of Atlético with 11 games left for both teams. If the Blaugrana win this one, they’ll be eight points clear at the top with 10 games left having just beaten their main rivals in the title race, which will basically clinch the title for the Catalans. If Atlético win, they’ll cut Barça’s lead to just two points and head into the home stretch of the season with all the confidence and all the momentum.
Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann are absolutely on fire right now, and the supporting casts on both sides are pretty good too. The coaches are very good as well, so this REALLY is a game you JUST. CANNOT. MISS. Seriously.
