Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says that Ernesto Valverde has more than met expectations during his first year in charge of the club.
Valverde has guided the club to a league and cup double although he has attracted criticism for his style of play, lack of rotation and defeats to Roma and Levante.
Yet he seems to have the full backing of Bartomeu who is happy with how the season has gone.
“One year on we can say that Valverde has more than met expectations and he has earned everyone’s respect and our confidence with his talent, his way of being and his approach,” he said.
”The team managed the departure of Neymar and the Supercopa de Espana defeat with a coach who had just arrived.
”The Champions League elimination was tough, but the team were able to overcome that defeat to Roma.”
