Frenkie de Jong offered his thanks to fans after being given an ovation when he left the field at Ipurua after a superb display in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Eibar.
The Dutch midfielder played a starring role for the visitors in a comfortable win and was given a breather late on when replaced by Ivan Rakitic.
Eibar fans showed their appreciation for De Jong with an ovation for the Dutch star as he departed, and it did not go unnoticed by the Barcelona summer signing.
“The applause I got was spectacular. I can only say thanks. It was important to win after the international break. We knew Eibar would press us high and we knew how to play fast.”
