Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been explaining why he loves playing Barcelona and Lionel Messi ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The two teams will clash for the first time in La Liga in 2019-20 in Madrid with Barca going into the game three points ahead of their rivals in the table.

Oblak says he always wants to beat the best and is confident his team can take all three points against Ernesto Valverde’s side.

“He [Messi] is one of the best players in history and Barcelona are very lucky to have him. I love playing against the best, so it motivates me.

“Both Simeone and the players want to win every game we play. So against Barcelona it will be the same.

“If we are going to get what we want or not, it is impossible to say. But I have no doubt, we have the equipment and what is necessary to beat anyone, including Barcelona.“

Atletico head into the match on a disappointing run of form. Simeone’s side have won only one of their last six matches in all competitions but may fancy their chances given Barca’s troubles on their road this season.
