Ernesto Valverde held his final pre-match press conference on 2019 on Friday ahead of Barcelona’s match with Alaves at the Camp Nou.

The Barcelona boss talked about Saturday’s opponents, Sergio Busquets’ fitness and was also asked about any potential January transfer window moves.

Here are the bist bits:

Valverde on Busquets

He trained normally today and he no longer has a fever. Tomorrow he’ll be better and we think he can play.

Valverde on Alaves

We want to close out the year on a high note and get the three points against a side that defend well and go out on the counterattack. Alavés are not on a great run right now, but we’ve had a tough time beating them in the last few years.

Valverde on January transfer window

I’m really happy with the players I’ve got. I don’t expect any modifications.

Valverde on Christmas

We will maintain the structure of previous years. We will have a week off. Those who live far away will have one more day. Everyone has a work plan for these days.

Valverde on VAR

We have said it many times, VAR will not end controversy because it’s a vital part of football. The referee is the person who takes the decisions and VAR is there to help him and sometimes one team will complain and another time others will.
