The Uruguayan produced a fine performance, scoring his 18th La Liga goal of the season and also producing a clever assist for Messi.
However, he hobbled off the pitch at the end of the match after picking up a knock to his ankle.
The hope is that he will not be out of action for too long:
Suarez to have more tests on ankle sprain tomorrow. Won't join up with Uruguay. Early indication is around 15 days out.— Samuel Marsden (@samuelmarsden) March 17, 2019
The injury comes at a fairly good time for Barcelona, as they do not return to action until March 30 when Espanyol visit the Camp Nou.
Suarez had been called up by Uruguay, who play Uzbekistan in the China Cup on March 22, but it looks like he will not now join up with the national team.
