Carles Alena has been talking about what it’s like to play with Lionel Messi as he enjoys his first season in the Barcelona first team.
The midfielder is with the Spain Under-21 squad over the international break and will be hoping to make his debut for the team in games against Romania and Austria.
Ahead of those matches he’s given an interview to AS where he spoke about a range of topics and particularly the Barca captain.
“What more can we say about him? we’ve run out of adjectives to describe the player he is. He does whatever he wants to his rivals - and to us.
“He’s the number one. He’s a one-off - the likes of which we won’t ever see again in football. We have to enjoy him and accept he’s the best we will see in our lives.
“I’ll tell my children that I played alongside him - that will be an amazing experience. I hope he continues the way he is for many, many more years.”

Alena also said how he’ll be “eternally grateful” to Luis Enrique for giving him a chance at Barcelona, having made his first-team debut under Lucho in 2016.
