Riqui Puig says he ‘only wants to stay’ at Barcelona

Riqui Puig reiterated his desire to stay at Barcelona after making his La Liga debut for the club on Saturday against Huesca.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a loan move next season, and has reportedly been sounded out about joining Ajax, but says he just wants to play for Barcelona.

“I only want to stay here,” he said. ”It’s my team, it’s my parents’ team and I’ve been here since I was a child. If it’s up to me, I’ll stay.

”I think I have to play more with Barcelona B and take advantage of chances whenever I get one.”

This is not the first time Puig has talked about staying at the Camp Nou. He said earlier this month that he wants to stay if he’s given a choice over his future.

The teenager has made his feelings pretty clear, and he’ll now be hoping he can follow in Carles Alena’s footsteps and make the step up to the first-team next season.
