Carles Alena wants Barcelona to win title against Levante ‘with our fans’

Carles Alena says he’d prefer Barcelona to win La Liga on Saturday against Levante so the team can celebrate with their supporters.

Tuesday’s win over Alaves means that Barcelona will be crowned champions on Wednesday if Atletico Madrid lose to Valencia, but Alena would rather wait a few more days.

“Now we wait on Atletico. Or, in another case, we can wait until Saturday to win it with our fans.

“I’d prefer to win it on Saturday at home and celebrate it with our supporters, although if we win it before then then it will be welcome. We deserve this league title, we’ve been the best.”

Alena was handed just his fifth La Liga start of the season against Alaves and put in a fine display for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

The midfielder netted his second goal of the season with a great finish after a lovely move to send Barcelona on their way to another important three points.
