The statue has Cruyff wearing the No. 9 and “issuing instructions with an outstretched arm” to “reflect the way he was a leader on the pitch, but also off it” the club said on their website.
President Josep Maria Bartomeu offered his thoughts on the new statue and Cruyff’s contribution to the club.
“This statue shall be a permanent reminder of Johan Cruyff and what he represents. Johan Cruyff is a very important part of our history, essence and sentiment.”

Jordi Cruyff spoke of his family’s pride at the tribute and thanked the club for making it happen.
“This statue brings pleasure and pride to the whole family,” he said.
“We would like to thank everyone who made it possible. And it is in a very special place for him, where he spent a lot of time as a player and manager.”
The club are also set to set to open the new Estadi Johan Cruyff, the new home of Barça B and the women’s team, on August 27.
The stadium will replace the Miniestadi and the opening ceremony will include a match between FC Barcelona and Ajax youth teams.
