Barcelona’s young debutant has been the star of social media and the footballing world this week. The 16-year-old Ansu Fati made his debut against Betis this week to much fanfare.
The “first coach” to work with him at Sevilla, José Luis Pérez Mena, had some very kind words for the youngster. He spoke with EFE about Fati’s fearlessness and the once in a generation talent he possesses.
“In Guinea he was used to playing with balls made of rags, but when he got a real ball for the first time it was incredible to see him”.
“I’ve been in the football game for 50 years and I’ve never seen anything like him”
“He’s got huge personality, he doesn’t fear anyone and you only need to see him on the pitch to see that”

Mena’s praise only echoes what we’ve seen and heard about Fati. His potential is endless, now comes the hard part. Grooming and enabling a young talented player is one of the most difficult tasks a football club can have. If anyone is setup to do it, it’s Barcelona.
