Marc-Andre ter Stegen played down his assist for Luis Suarez’s goal in Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday.

The German goalkeeper picked out Suarez in the first half, and the Uruguayan ran on to his pass and lifted the ball over goalkeeper David Soria to make it 1-0.

Ter Stegen spoke about his contribution to the goal after the match and offered praise to Suarez for escaping his marker.

“Normally goalkeepers want to stop plays. I saw Suarez, but not so much. He got away from his marker well. It was the perfect moment. I was lacking an assist! But the important thing is that I’m happy to do something for the team and that we’re taking three points home.”
