Sergino Dest couldn’t hide his disappointment after tasting defeat on his first Clasico appearance for Barcelona on Saturday.
The 19-year-old took over from Sergi Roberto at right-back and made history by becoming the first American to play in the famous match between the two Liga rivals.
Dest put in an impressive showing too at the Camp Nou and spoke about the match after the full-time whistle.
“It was a really tough match; we had chances, they had chances,” he said.
“It’s too bad that we lost. They were maybe a little sharper. They finished their chances. I am pissed that we lost. It’s my first Clasico and it’s a nice game to play, of course.
But we have to keep going. We must win the next couple of games now. We have Juventus next in the Champions League. We have to win that.”
There’s no doubt Dest was one of the few Barca players to emerge with any credit from Saturday’s match, and he should have done enought to keep his place for Wednesday’s trip to Juventus in the Champions League.
