Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has risked angering Lionel Messi ahead of Sunday’s Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgium goalkeeper has given an interview where he asked about the Barcelona captain and was pretty disparaging in his reply.
“Do I think of Messi before this Clasico? No, not really. It was the case during my first season with Atlético Madrid, especially when you play Camp Nou for the first time, with all these stars. At that moment, if you don’t think about it, it is because something is wrong with you.
“But today, I don’t think about it anymore. For me, Messi, he is a player like any other. Nightmares because of him? No, never (laughs). We studied him as we study a player from Celta Vigo or Levante. There is no difference.”

Courtois’ interview did not go unnoticed at Barcelona. The club responded on Twitter with a collection of Messi’s goals against the Real Madrid stopper.

It’s never a good idea to wind up Messi as we’ve seen throughout his career. The Barcelona captain was in lethal form last time out in La Liga too, netting four against Eibar. Let’s see who comes out on top on Sunday.
