La La confirmed on Thursday that the season has been put on hold due to the coronavirus for at least the next two weeks.
There’s a real possibility that the suspension could last even longer which prompts questions of how this season will be decided.
AS report RFEF president Luis Rubiales has said there are “four possible scenarios” and have gone on to look at what they might be.
- Complete the season
- Cancel the season
- End it now
- Use the halfway table
The good news for Barcelona is that in two of those options they end up as champions. The Catalan giants topped the table at the halfway point and are two points clear now.
Cancelling the season is a possibility and means no team would be crowned champions, and there would also be no relegation.
The other option to complete the season looks pretty unlikely. All teams still have 11 games left to play, making it difficult to fit them in unless UEFA decide to make changes to the Champions League, Europa League and Euro 2020 schedule.
