Bolo Zenden reveals how he dislocated Xavi’s shoulder at Barcelona

Ouch!

Boudewijn Zenden

Former Barcelona winger Bolo Zenden has revealed how he accidentally dislocated Xavi’s shoulder during his time at the Camp Nou.

Zenden has explained he decided to practise a few judo moves on his team-mate and ended up putting him on the treatment table for a couple of weeks instead.

“It went a bit wrong once at Barcelona,” he said.

“I had a little [judo] challenge with Xavi, who was leaning with one hand on a bed.

“The bed had wheels, though, which made him slip and he dislocated a shoulder. He was out for a few weeks!”

The Dutch star went on to explain that his father was a judo professional, before injury forced him to retire, meaning Zenden had grown up surrounded by the sport.

Zenden joined Barcelona from PSV Eindhoven in 1998 and won one La Liga title with the club before joining Chelsea in 2001.
