Jordi Alba says Barcelona must respect him after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou.

The left-back scored a late goal and celebrated with his fingers in his ears which didn’t seem to go down too well with supporters.

The goal was subsequently ruled out by VAR for offside but Alba spoke about the whistles from the crowd after the match.

“Nobody likes that the fans are going against them. I respect the fans but the fans have to respect me. Nobody likes to be whistled, and less so after 15 minutes at 0-0. It’s true that we have to improve a lot of things but the attitude is good.”

Alba also joined in with Gerard Pique in defending Eder Sarabia after the match, insisting that the players were not annoyed with Quique Setien’s assistant.
