Arturo Vidal has told Barcelona they will need to improve against Athletic if they are to take all three points against the Basque side.

The Catalan giants head into the match on the back of a disappointing draw with Sevilla and having been knocked off the top of the table.

Barca have already lost twice to Athletic this season, and Vidal knows his side are in for another tough game.

“It will be a very intense game. Athletic is a team that pressures at all times. We must improve because Athletic will be very difficult,” he said.

Vidal also spoke about the new Champions League format, with teams set to play off in a final eight tournament, and is looking forward to it provided Barca beat Napoli first.

“If we beat Napoli, it will be a single game. I like that. You risk it all in 90 minutes and it is in these circumstances when the important footballers must appear. I want to be important in those games.”
