Quique Setien doesn’t want some of the more prominent Barcelona youngsters playing for Barcelona B in the second division playoffs this weekend. The Barca boss talked about wanting the youngsters for this weekend’s final La Liga match and to be ready to the Champions League next month.

Setien was asked about the availbility of Ansu Fati, Riqui Puig and Ronald Araujo for this weekend’s playoffs.

“I’d have liked it to be different, but it’s not going to be possible. We have various players suspended for the Champions League and for Sunday.

“Without them, we’d only have enough to field 11, with barely any substitutes. That’s my position, at least.”

Barcelona’s match with Alaves is pretty meaningless, but Setien is short on numbers with Gerard Pique, Ivan Rakitic and Junior Firpo suspended and Antoine Griezmann, Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele injured.
