Jordi Alba says Barcelona letting Luis Suarez go to Atletico was a ‘joke’

Something most Barcelona supporters can agree on is that selling Luis Suarez wasn’t the best bit of business. The club got virtually nothing for selling one of the best strikers in club history and sold him to a rival that ended up winning the league.

Jordi Alba chatted candidly about Suarez being sold this week. The defender called Barcelona selling Suarez to the eventual title winners “a joke”.

“It was a joke,” he said. “He is someone who gave a lot to Barcelona and they practically gave him away for nothing, above all to a direct rival in Atletico.

“And look, they went on to win the league with him. I didn’t like it. Aside from the friendship we have, where are you going to find a striker like him? It is difficult to find one. Yes, there are some very good players, but what Luis gave us...”
