Ronald Koeman will have to make changes

Barcelona welcome Getafe to the Camp Nou on Sunday for a final La Liga match before the first international break of the 2021-22 season.

Ronald Koeman’s men have started off with a good win against Real Sociedad and a draw against San Mames in their first two matches of the new campaign.

A win is needed on Sunday but Koeman will be without some key players due to injury and suspension. Let’s look at who could feature:

There will definitely be changes in defense with Gerard Pique out with a calf problem and Eric Garcia suspended after picking up a red card at San Mames.

Koeman will have to pick a new central defensive partnership and looks likely to go with Ronald Araujo Garcia and Clement Lenglet as his two center-backs.

Elsewhere, there’s a chance that Marc-Andre ter Stegen could be fit to make his first appearance of the season after knee trouble and he could replace Neto in goal.

Jordi Alba looks set to continue at left-back, while Koeman needs to choose between Sergino Dest and Emerson Royal on the opposite flank.

There’s no Pedri in midfield for Barcelona for the first time in a very long time. The teenager is enjoying a long overdue holiday which means Koeman will have to tweak his midfield.

The most likely option to replace the Spain international appears to be Sergi Roberto who has a goal and an assist in his two substitute appearances this season.

Roberto looks set to line up alongside Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong who was back in training on Friday after shrugging off a knock.

The one area where there may not be any changes is in attack with Memphis Depay, Antoine Griezman, and Martin Braithwaite likely to continue.

Memphis has impressed in his first two La Liga outings and scored a superb equalizer last time out against Athletic to rescue a point.

The Dutchman’s performance was in stark contrast to Griezmann and Braithwaite, who offered little, and need to step it up on Sunday against Getafe.

Possible XI: Ter Stegen; Emerson, Araujo, Lenglet, Alba; De Jong, Busquets, Roberto; Memphis, Braithwaite, Griezmann.
