Ernesto Valverde took time out to praise Arthur after he made his first Champions League start against Tottenham at Wembley.

The Barcelona boss opted to go with the Brazilian ahead of Ousmane Dembele, and it worked out well as the youngster put in a strong display.

“Man, that’s what it’s about,” he said.

”Looking for a gap, he has some qualities that come in handy. He completes many passes, it’s hard to take the ball off him. He has been a starter in an important game.

”We played a good game and we had opportunities to extend the lead before and not have to suffer so much, but this is the Champions League.”

It was a welcome surprise to see Arthur in the starting XI for such an important game, and he certainly didn’t disappoint.
