Who could Barcelona face in the Champions League quarter-finals?

Barcelona have booked their place in the last eight of the Champions League after seeing off Chelsea in the last 16 and will now be looking forward to Friday’s quarter-final draw.

There’s no segregation in the last eight, meaning teams from the same country can face each other, as well as teams who have already faced off in the tournament.

Here’s a look at who Barcelona could draw on Friday.

Bayern Munich

The German giants made light work of Besiktas thrashing them 8-1 on aggregate to book their place in the quarter-finals. Jupp Heynckes’ men may have finished second behind PSG in the group stages but will be a side most teams still want to avoid. They are 20 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table and with Robert Lewandowski, James Rodriguez, Arturo Vidal and Arjen Robben possess plenty of firepower.

Juventus

Barcelona got the better of Juventus in the group stages, winning 3-0 at the Camp Nou and drawing 0-0 in Turin but may not fancy facing the Italian giants again. Massimiliano Allegri’s men showed real character to come back and beat Tottenham in the last round and have been to two of the last three finals. Defence remains the Italian’s strength but with Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and Mario Mandzukic they also pack plenty of punch up front.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been scoring goals for fun in Europe this season and thrashed Porto to book their place in the last eight. The Reds seem to love the European stage and although they look a fearsome attacking unit, huge questions remain over their defence. A tie with Barcelona would prove an interesting match-up, although there may well be a bit of ill-feeling too following Philippe Coutinho’s transfer from Anfield to the Camp Nou.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side are easily the best team in the Premier League this season and will seriously fancy their chances of landing their first ever Champions League title. The Citizens qualified with ease and beat Basel 5-2 on aggregate in the last 16. They are probably the club most teams will be wanting to avoid on Friday.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s season now hinges on the Champions League after a pretty dismal defence of their La Liga title. Los Blancos are also hoping to win the tournament for the third year in a row, which would be some feat and knocked out PSG in the last round with some ease. Zinedine Zidane’s side seem to have been improving, but are difficult to predict after an inconsistent campaign.

Roma

Roma sneaked into the quarter-finals of the Champions League on away goals after a 2-2 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk. An Edin Dzeko goal secured their progress in the second leg after an away defeat and, along with Sevilla they are probably the team must clubs will want to draw on Friday.

Sevilla

Sevilla pulled off arguably the shock of the round after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford. Vincenzo Montella’s side were the better side over the two legs and fully deserved their place in the last eight, against a United team who were made to pay for a conservative approach. Barcelona are already set to face Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final in April and beat them 2-1 in La Liga earlier in the season.
