Clement Lenglet played down fears about Samuel Umtiti’s latest injury in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

The defender spoke to reporters ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League tie with Slavia Prague and was asked about his team-mate’s fitness.

Umtiti failed to make the trip to the Czech Republic after suffering a “bruised knee” in training, and Lenglet offered his thoughts on his team-mate.

“We’d always rather our teammates don’t get injured, but because of his blow they recommended that he stayed [in Barcelona],” he said.

”He played a good game against Eibar. He needs some time, but he has nothing serious.”

Umtiti made his first appearance of the season on Saturday against Eibar, and Barca will be hoping he has not suffered another serious injury. Barcelona have the weekend off due to El Clasico being postponed which will give Umtiti extra time to recover for their next La Liga fixture against Real Valladolid.
