Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was full of praise for Lionel Messi after his performance in the team’s 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Messi marked his 700th Barcelona outing in style with a goal and two assists as the club secured top spot in the group and progression to the knockout stages.

Here’s what Ter Stegen made of Messi and Barca’s performance at the Camp Nou.

“We played some good football tonight. We managed to score the first goal, which was what we intended.

“We hope we will be able to prove in the last group stage match that we deserve to lead the section.

“700 matches for Barcelona is not normal and neither is what [Messi] did on the pitch. He is simply the best footballer in the world.”
