Ernesto Valverde admits Barcelona are feeling the pressure after two poor performances in a row and has demanded a response from his side.

Valverde bemoaned his side’s ability to take their chances in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Slavia Prague and said he is well aware the Spanish champions haven’t been up to scratch recently.

“The process of unpicking them cost us more than it should have - we needed to draw their players out and then cut through with sharp, well-timed passing. Semedo got through a couple of times but I think we should have achieved that more often.

“We didn’t take the chances we made sufficiently well, Slavia always felt like they carried danger. They played a remarkably high line and we had to be much more efficient, more effective in finding the right pass through. The timing had to be perfect.

“The match before this we lost at Levante and we’re not unaware that the last two performances haven’t been our best. They’ve been incomplete. We know there’s loads of pressure on us and now we must respond.”

Tuesday’s draw coupled with defeat to Levante will increase the pressure on Valverde. He said after Saturday’s loss he was not considering resigning but may get asked that question again at the weekend if Barca can’t come up with a result and a performance against Celta.
