Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet says the club are keen to “soothe” the scar inflicted by Roma in last season’s Champions League.

Lenglet was not even part of the club at the time, he joined from Sevilla in July 2018, but says the feeling created by the European exit is still palpable.

“You can just sense around the place there is this scar,” he said. “It still hurts.

”We want to soothe the scar, do something beautiful so we can forget all about what happened.

“The players were gutted and everyone around the club was too. We have to show it was a mistake, that we can do better.”

Barcelona are in Lyon on Tuesday for the first leg of their last 16 tie, and Lenglet will be hoping for a start despite the return to fitness of Samuel Umtiti.
