Valverde warns Barcelona ‘what happened to Real Madrid could happen to us’

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has sent his side a warning after Wednesday’s Supercopa de Catalunya defeat to Girona.

A goal from Cristhian Stuani saw an experimental side narrowly beaten in Sabadell, and after the match Valverde talked about their Champions League hopes

“What happened to Madrid could also happen to us,” he said.

“It has to serve us to be prudent. We are not yet in the quarter-finals and we have no advantage. A bad day leaves you out.”
