Ernesto Valverde was happy with Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Liverpool on Wednesday, but he also warned his players the job is not done just yet.
Two goals from Lionel Messi and a Luis Suarez strike have put the Spanish champions in command of the tie, but Valverde has not forgotten last year’s exit at the hands of Roma.
“Sometimes you can dominate the rhythm of the game and sometimes they can dominate you,” he said. ”At some moments, Liverpool played the game how they wanted to.
”It is a great result, but last year we also had an advantage of three goals and well, something happened to us.”

The two teams play their second leg at Anfield on Tuesday. Before then Barcelona take on Celta Vigo in La Liga, a game in which they will be able to rest players as the title is already wrapped up.
Liverpool are at Newcastle United on Saturday evening. Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in the chase for the Premier League title and are a point behind leaders Manchester City with two games left to play.
