Sergi Roberto said Barcelona’s win over Juventus on Wednesday was the perfect response after another tumultuous week at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants sank to a disappointing defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend and then saw president Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board resign 24 hours before the game.

Roberto was asked about his team’s performance in the wake of recent events and felt the players had produced the perfect response out on the pitch.

“We are very happy, especially for scoring. Having six points is important. We have only scored two goals but but there could have been many more. The important thing is to make the chances. If we continue like this, we will end up scoring them. After the defeat against Madrid, it was important to score points. We must continue in this way.

“We want a Barça that dominate games, that have the ball. Today has been a great match, not only for the result, but for the sensations as well.

“There is a lot of talk about this [Bartomeu’s resignation], which is normal. But what the members want is to win games and that is what we have shown. The best response has been today’s game.”

The win puts Barca in great shape in Group G ahead of next week’s clash against Dynamo Kiev. Before then Koeman’s men take on Alaves in La Liga and could do with a win after defeats in their last two league outings.
