UEFA announced on Thursday that Barcelona’s last-16 second leg tie against Napoli will go ahead at the Camp Nou as originally planned.

The competition was put on hold in March due to Covid-19 but will resume in August with Barcelona and Napoli currently level at 1-1 after the first leg in Italy.

“In accordance with the principle of sporting equity, and taking into account the current conditions (all clubs that have to play the return match of the round of 16 at home are currently playing the remaining matches of their national leagues in their own stadiums and it is possible to travel without restrictions for visiting teams), the UEFA Executive Committee has decided that the remaining return matches of the round of 16 of the Champions League and UEFA Europa League will be played in the stadiums of the designated home teams.”

UEFA still haven’t confirmed the exact time and date of the match. What we do know is that it will take place on either August 7 or 8 at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona and Napoli will find out on Friday morning who they will face if they do make it through to the ‘final eight’ stage of the tournament which will be held in Portugal.

There will be three draws on Friday for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final (to determine the home side). This season’s final is set for August 23 in Lisbon.
