Barcelona scout Martial & Azpilicueta

Today’s rumours start in the Premier League where Robert Fernandez and Urbano Ortega took in Sunday’s clash between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Sport speculate that the pair were there to check on United duo Anthony Martial and Ander Herrera and Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

De Ligt now Barca’s top target

Over at Mundo Deportivo, the big news is that Matthijs de Ligt has emerged as Barcelona’s top target.

The young Dutchman is viewed as perfect for Barca, having grown up at Ajax and is similar in style to Gerard Pique.

Barca are still planning on bringing in Yerry Mina but want De Ligt too as Javier Mascherano and Thomas Vermaelen may both leave in the summer.

Lenglet impresses Barcelona

Another defender who could be heading to Barcelona is Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet, so say Sport.

The Blaugrana have apparently been interested for “months” and are aware he has a €30 million release clause.

What may help the deal is Aleix Vidal, Sevilla are keen on the 28-year-old and he knows he is no longer wanted at Barca.

Barca still interested in Griezmann

Meanwhile, Barca continue to track Antoine Griezmann and are willing to pay his €100 million release clause.

The Frenchman is not enjoying a good start to the season and Mundo Deportivo reckon Barca have let him know of their interest.

Barca did want Griezmann in the summer but his release clause at the time was €200 million, now it has dropped, they could be ready to bring him in.

Fernandez keeping tabs on Aleksandr Golovin

Robert Fernandez has been a busy man, as he was also in Switzerland to watch CSKA Moscow’s Aleksandr Golovin take on FC Basel in the Champions League.

Sport say he could be available for €20 million and describe him as a “complete” midfielder.

Fernandez also went to see defender Manuel Akanji, but it was Golovin who caught the eye.

James Rodriguez to Barcelona?

And today’s rumours end with the always entertaining Don Balon who report that James Rodriguez could be heading to Barcelona.

Apparently the Colombian is unhappy at Bayern following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti and wants to leave.

His agent Jorge Mendes, wants to turn his career around and feels he would be a great success at Barca.

However, to make that happen, Mendes would need to convince Bayern to activate their option to buy and then sell him to Barca.
