Barcelona are planning a major squad overhaul this summer and are willing to allow several big names to leave, including Arda Turan, Jérémy Mathieu and Javier Mascherano, according to Sport.
The report claims the club’s plan, dubbed ‘Operation Exit’, will see some important players allowed to leave as Robert Fernandez feels they have given all they can.
Arda Turan is one player named as likely to depart with Barcelona confident he could still demand a decent transfer fee.
The 30-year-old has made just 13 Liga starts this season and has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal, as part of a deal that would see Hector Bellerin move the other way.
Mathieu is another player expected to leave, which will surprise precisely no one.
The defender was a surprise starter against Juventus in midweek but put in another performance which simply highlighted he is not at the level demanded.
The duo could be joined by Mascherano who was linked with a move to Juventus last summer and only signed a contract extension last October keeping him at the club until 2019.
Sport also claim there could also be further departures and much may depend on the views of whoever replaces Luis Enrique as coach.
Either way it promises to be an interesting summer...
