Barcelona’s pursuit of Marco Verratti has reportedly taken a new twist with reports in Italy claiming PSG have turned down a €100 million offer from the Blaugrana.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Verratti’s agent met PSG sporting director Antero Henrique in Milan on Monday morning to discuss the midfielder’s future.
Di Campli apparently reiterated Verratti’s desire to leave and presented an offer from Barcelona who are willing to offer PSG €100m and Verratti a deal worth €10m a season, excluding bonuses.
However, Henrique was quick to dismiss the offer and has insisted PSG do not want to sell and in fact want to spend €200m on the team to make it competitive in Europe.
The report claims the two will meet again for further discussions shortly with PSG also aware of interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Perhaps most interestingly La Gazzetta also states that PSG want at least €150m for Verratti who could well be the biggest transfer of the summer, if he does indeed leave Parc des Princes.
PSG seem desperate to keep him, but the latest speculation claims he is desperate to leave. Something, surely, has to give.
