Barcelona close in on €50m Semedo
Ernesto Valverde has been unveiled as Barca boss and the club are now closing in on their first signing of the summer, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
They report that Barca could be about to beat Manchester United to the 23-year-old after Robert Fernandez stepped up negotiations with Benfica.
Valverde eyes Inigo Martinez
Another one of Barcelona’s summer targets is Inigo Martinez with Valverde keen on a move for the Real Sociedad defender, according to Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
The new boss is a fan of Martinez’s agressive style and confidence on the ball and he is also available at the right price with a release clause of €32m.
Arda close to Arsenal move
Arda Turan, meanwhile, is closing in on a move to Arsenal after Valverde apparently gave his permission for the Turkey international to leave Barca, according to Haberturk.
The 30-year-old is widely expected to exit Camp Nou this summer and could become Arsene Wenger’s first signing of the summer.
Sergi Roberto wanted by Premier League clubs
Valverde was asked about Sergi Roberto in his press conference on Thursday and it seems the 25-year-old is a man in-demand.
Marca report that several unnamed Premier League clubs have already made offers for Roberto although he wants to remain at Camp Nou.
The Spaniard has a release clause of €40m and is contracted to Barca until 2019 although talks over a renewal are yet to commence.
Wenger tells Perez Bellerin will not go to Barca
Another day, another Hector Bellerin rumor and today’s latest is from Diario Gol who claim the full-back will not leave Arsenal for Barcelona.
Apparently manager Arsene Wenger had a cosy little dinner with Real Madrid present Florentino Perez where he assured him that Bellerin would not return to Camp Nou this summer.
Jordi Cruyff set for technical role
And finally, Jordi Cruyff could be set for a technical role at Barcelona after discussions with Robert Fernandez and Josep Bartomeu.
The Independent report that the 43-year-old has impressed many with his work at Maccabi Tel Aviv and could be offered a role at Camp Nou.
