If there is one thing that seems certain this summer it is that Jeremy Mathieu will leave Barcelona and it seems there will be few supporters sad to see him depart.

Indeed perhaps the surprising thing will be that the centre-back could have his pick of destinations with the latest reports claiming a couple of clubs have expressed an interest.

Over at AS the news is that Marseille are interested and that sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has already come up with an offer for the 33-year-old.

They also claim interest from Turkey with Galatasaray having previously been linked with Mathieu who, along with Arda Turan, are expected to be the first players out of the exit door this summer.

However, over in Portugal it’s a different story altogether. A Bola report that Sporting coach Jorge Jesus wants Mathieu and has already made an approach to Barcelona.

Mathieu certainly looks to have played his last game for the club even though he still has a year to run on his contract.

While Barca are unlikely to receive much in the way of a transfer fee for the former Valencia, a departure is the best option for both parties and may not be too far way now.
