Lionel Messi has admitted he wants to finish his career at Barcelona amid reports he has agreed a new deal with the club.
The Argentine who is currently on international duty in Australia ahead of a friendly with Brazil looks set to commit his future to the club after months of speculation.
A report in Marca claims Messi has now agreed a deal with the paperwork set to be drawn up and finalised ahead of official confirmation
The 29-year-old is expected to sign a three or four-year deal that will cost Barca somewhere in the region of €35 million a year.
Messi now appeared to confirm he was ready to stay at Barcelona for the long-term and dismissed suggestions of playing for another club.
"It's what I always wanted and dreamed," he told Tencent Sports. "I would love to finish my career at Barcelona."
Completing Messi’s extension is arguably Barca’s most important deal of the summer and the sooner it is done the better.
Messi has previously hinted he could finish his career back in Argentina but it now seems as though we will have the privilege of watching him see out his playing days with the Blaugrana. Result.
