Alba: I don’t think Pique’s Neymar tweet was a joke

The defender is confident the Brazilian will stay

Neymar continues to dominate the headlines, even after Gerard Pique seemingly brought the matter to a close with a photo of himself and the Brazilian, captioned “he stays”.

Yet not everyone is convinced, speculation remains that actually Neymar has not made a decision yet/is still going to PSG/was surprised by Pique’s photo - depending on which publication you read.

Of course we all slept a little easier after Pique’s intervention and Jordi Alba was asked about it today, as the club’s pre-season tour of the United States continues.

“You have to ask him [Pique], I can not say anything because I do not know if he spoke with Neymar,” he said via Marca. “I do not think it's a joke. In any case, I hope not.”

Alba also went on to insist that, despite all the reports to the contrary, Neymar is happy at Barca and the dressing room is remaining calm in the face of the huge levels of speculation.

“He's a Barcelona player until he says otherwise,” he added. “Neymar is very calm, in the locker room we’re really calm.”

And so according to Alba, he is calm, Neymar is calm, the dressing room is calm, but still it would be good to have some kind of official confirmation from somewhere that he really is staying.
