Barcelona have had a €100m (€85m plus €15m in add-ons) for Philippe Coutinho rejected by Liverpool, according to multiple reports.

The Guardian report the new bid, Barca’s second, was instantly rejected, the club were told he is not for sale and Liverpool now “consider the matter closed”.

Over at the Telegraph the report adds that “it is inconceivable” Liverpool will allow such a key player to leave at this stage of the team’s development.

Whether it will be enough to deter Barcelona completely remains to be seen, although the message from Liverpool is pretty obvious.

The only way of Coutinho moving to Barca now this summer appears to be if the player himself forces through a move, which does not look likely, and it’s surely time for the Blaugrana to now look elsewhere.
